[KETO RECIPE] LOW CARB BREAD & BEEFED UP AVOCADO TOAST

agosto 02, 2022

Who said you have to quit eating bread to follow a healthy diet?

Today we bring you two recipes and several ideas in the same post.

The main recipe is a great low-carb and keto bread recipe from our friends at Lin Switzerland.

We recommend you keep an eye on their social media and blog for ideas, recipes and information on how to live a low-carb lifestyle in the best possible way.

If you are lucky enough to live in Switzerland, we can't recommend enough that you buy their breads, cakes and desserts... they are awesome.

GLUTEN FREE LOW-CARB BREAD

Makes 12 pieces

  • 8 egg whites
  • 375g almond meal (I use the brown almond meal, but you can use white if you wish. Almond meal is coarser than almond flour. Both will work just that I prefer meal for my breads)
  • 135g psyllium husk
  • 5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 5 teaspoons apple cider vinegar
  • 640ml water

Directions:

  1. Boil the water
  2. Mix all the dry ingredients together (almond meal, psyllium husk, baking powder, salt)
  3. Add apple cider vinegar and egg whites to the mixture. Mix well.
  4. Pour the boiling hot water into the mixture and mix well.
  5. Once its cool enough to touch and knead, use your hands to knead the mixture a little to mix thoroughly.
  6. Divide into equal rolls
  7. Bake at 175 deg celsius at the lowest rack for 50-55 minutes.

Lin's recipe is very easy to make and you can enjoy bread rolls with only 3g of net carbohydrates with a great texture and flavour.

It is a preservative-free bread so it should be ideally eaten freshly baked or at most 4-5 days after baking. This bread can also be frozen.

This bread is very flexible, you can use it for toast, sandwiches, hamburger buns, charcuterie boards...

LOW CARB AVOCADO TOAST WITH BEEF SLICES

We have used this bread to make a very nutritious breakfast, full of quality fat and protein.

Once the bread was opened in half, we toasted it in a hot frying pan with extra virgin olive oil. We added an avocado and some chopped tomato. To finish, we added some slices of Eco Biltong Cuts BBQ.

If you do not know yet what biltong is, you can click here and read about Biltong.

The slices of cured beef give it that meaty and charcuterie-like flavour that we like so much. It also ads about 15g of bioavailable and clean protein that our stomach will digest without any problem.

We hope you'll give this toast a try or go for other ideas with this keto bread, we think you'll love it and do it again and again.

We'd love to see your creations on Instagram.

Enjoy!
