What are the differences between eco and bio?

European legislation says that the words Ecological (ECO), Biological (BIO) and Organic are synonyms, every time you see any of those words, it is an Organic product.

In order for a product to be ECO:

  • synthetic or artificial substances can not be used in production (fertilizers, pesticides, etc.)
  • artificial ingredients can not be used (additives, preservatives, colourings, etc.)
  • GMOs (Genetically Modified Organisms) are banned
  • Livestock farming has a very strict rules regarding welfare, diet and medical care.

What organization regulates Organic production? Which controls you have to do?

In our particular case the CPAER ( La Rioja Organic Agrarian Production Conseil) https://www.cpaer.org/

CPAER has to approve each of our products in first place. Then we have to pass an official annual audit to make sure that all our products are Organic indeed.

Why Cherky goes Organic?

Organic Agriculture guarantees a superior quality compared to traditional product, but also provides healthier options and ensures a much more responsible and sustainable production.

In addition Organic farming certifies animal welfare and reduces considerably the impact livestock has in the environment, which is basic for us.
